SB488 is an SBus-to-IEEE 488 (HP-IB, GPIB) controller board for SPARCworkstations. With SB488, a SPARC-based workstation can control up to 14IEEE instruments, printers, plotters, and scanners, all from one SBusslot. Two boards can be used in one system, increasing the number ofinstruments that can be controlled to 28.SB488 is a single-width board that uses surface mount technology toimprove performance and reliability. The board is fully compatible withthe IEEE 488.2 standard, allowing the user to program with easy-to-useSCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instrumentation). An onboard DMAcontroller ASIC performs high-speed data transfers at up to 1 MB persecond, the maximum speed of the IEEE bus. All functions of the board areconfigured through software, eliminating jumpers and switches.
